When is the last day to free upgrade from Vista or 7 to Win10? Good question. If I were you, I would use that wonderful tool called Google and it has most answers in respect of questions asked by people like you. You are still using Vista, are you not? So this is your opportunity to try google if it knows Vista can be upgraded free of charge. Please try Google and let us know what you found. When you reply please also let us know if all Japanese are ID-10-Ts like you. Thank you. -- With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Tatsuki Takahashi wrote:
When is the last day to free upgrade from Vista or 7 to Win10? Do it TODAY. If you've never installed it before, there may be some work to do. Any computer project, you should allow 30 days for its completion. The 30 day timer is already ticking. You would be foolish to wait for the last day. "Why wait for Spring, do it now." The question you ask, is like doing your Christmas shopping, on Christmas Eve day, and expecting a good outcome. You need to do a backup of the existing materials, before starting. To do the procedure safely, there are things to do before starting the install. Maybe you don't have a backup storage device ? And need to buy one ? That's part of the 30 day total project execution time... Buying a backup drive. Having it shipped to you. The WAITING time is over. It is now the DOING time. Paul |

The really weird part of the campaign, is how featureless the graph is. For all the dirty tricks, comments in the media, it seems to have had no effect at all in terms of trends. http://gs.statcounter.com/#os-ww-monthly-201408-201607 I could have sworn, early on, that most of the conversion was coming from Win8.1, but look at the curves now. You would be hard pressed to see any sign of a "motivation" in that graph. Why don't those curves have lumps in them ? Paul |

because I do not want Windows 10. Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko Why not stop using Windows completely until after 2nd August 2016? Microsoft were simply experimenting to see if free products have any market but apparently not. No wonder no sensible person is using Linux or their free office products. Microsoft managed to push about 350 million copies of Windows but if they decide to release another operating system, I doubt if they could get similar numbers even if they give it out to anybody who wants it. The reason is that people can do everything they want from a machine by using whatever they currently have. The only time they need a new OS is when they want to run something new which can't otherwise be run in their current OS. -- With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Should I look into it or just wait for the *important* "Upgrade to Windows 10 or we'll kill this kitten" security update for Vista? Vista users are not part of any campaigns. I knew that. My comment was about the above idea that Microsoft might "extend" it to include Vista. If they see that their market share falls short of the desired number because of people rolling back because they don't want Windows 10 anywhere near their machines they might pick up more 'takers' by allowing Vista users to upgrade also. Extending only the deadline probably wouldn't change things all that much because people who were reluctant then will likely still be reluctant in the future. There is no upgrade for Vista. I knew that too, but the above idea was a 'what if' scenario. I stated that I would like that because it would be a new lease on life for the Windows part of my dual boot (Vista/Fedora) machine. You are quite quite safe. Paul My comment was slightly in jest, but I can certainly see how that could be missed if you think that more time would result in more takers. I don't think so since it has been made obvious that they were trying to shove it down our throats and the reluctance is likely to persist even if people are given more time to comply with the demand to upgrade to Windows 10. --- more cheekiness I'm afraid ---^ |

I am running Windows 7 and have turned off updates, because I do not want Windows 10. I use GWX Control Panel, but you can also use Never10 from GRC. Either way, you can download and install every update, (if you want to). Those apps prevent the upgrade to Win 10. Also, I don't know what "broken" means, but I assume you can still use XP if you want to, by simply fixing the broken system. Plenty of others still use XP. -- Char Jackson |
