changing the MAC
I hope I posted to the correct NGs
I lived in an apartment block where Internet access is provided via LAN. Of late, I cannot access the Internet and was told to try and change my MAC for my adapter and it works. The management of the block suspects that one tenant is blocking access to the Internet using MAC filters but unable to find out who; Questions that I have are; 1. I thought only the management could block access using MAC filters on the routers ? 2. Any applications that can detect who is blocking of MAC address ? -- Dual Boot WinXP Pro SP3 with Windows 7 |

As I stated most NIC drivers do have that ability in their respective Advanced Tab. Chances are it is NOT MAC blocking but if it has to do with a MAC address it is MAC authentitication. That is the manager of the service needs to know your PC node (or Router) MAC address to authenticate your access. -- Dave http://www.claymania.com/removal-trojan-adware.html Multi-AV - http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp |
