Someone posted this in another news group, it made me chuckle.

"This is kind of funny. I know people who still write with a
typewriter, which doesn't sound quite as bad as using Wordstar."

My father-in-law had a PC and never upgraded his DOS Wordstar with a
full height floppy drive. But he could pump out great writings. He
was limited to staying with DOS since his wife was legally blind and she
had a similar machine with all sorts of TSR's (remember them) to allow
it to read all the menu's etc to her. They copied files back and forth
and needed to keep compatible. It was a bummer trying to support him
as I kinda lost what DOS was. They passed away late 1990's so
technology really didn't outpace him by that much.

It would have been more convincing if she was typing properly.

I was quite happy to laugh without noticing her typing style...for that
matter, even without waiting to be convinced :-)

I laughed too but couldn't help thinking that she DID look a bit young
to be returning to work after a _30_ year break! Mind you she does look
attractive!

I still wish I had Wordstar.. I loved it back in the day.. Never got
to master Word the same way..
I lost my install discs to a flood some years ago...

Can you imagine how fast it would be on todays equipment?

I'm curious, what would you do if you had them now?

Can you imagine how fast it would be on todays equipment?

So do I, but I also have fakery detectors. My sense of humour works
better when I'm not distracted by fakery. And I know which facility I
consider more important. :-)

I'll bet you're like me, Mike - I can watch a science fiction film and
completely suspend reality and enjoy it - until I see someone faking
playing a piano, say - then I can't watch it any more and have to turn it
off.

I don't normally watch much Hollywood, but I was persuaded to watch
Gravity by the widespread acclaim. What a load of tosh.

And even more so if it wasn't a left-handed typewriter she though she was
using. They may have existed, but I never saw one.

That CRT monitor was a bit on the lightweight side, too.

It's not only faking playing the piano but other instruments as well,
particularly bowed stringed instruments, to say nothing of faked sex!

The carriage moved left as you typed and at the end of the line you had
to push the carriage back to the beginning of the new line with your
left hand. The big Underwoods were the best! Smooth as anything.

Please don't ask me my age! I am a true geriatric. The doyen of this
group! Any challengers?
