SFC /Scannow results in "Insert your Windows XP Professional CD2 n

If you Google i386 folder, you will see loads of problems and answers
referring to that folder. Hope this is quicker for you.

I'm having a problem like that too but the other thing is I don't have
win xp pro, I have home. Why would it ask me for pro? I also tried to
put the i386 folder in another drive to use without the cd and it still
asks for the cd. I haven't been able to use the file checker ever since
I used a registry cleaner and I'm sure I restored it but it still doesn't
work. I even restored my whole drive from my backups and it still asks
for pro cd.

Hi, Nass I have the troublesome DLL's and I have listed them below. Microsoft
Article 909059 appears to indicate that the below are not needed by XP
Professional Media Edition. So , I believe I'm ok in ignoring them during the
SFC Scan. Thanks in advance for your assistance.!

Yes you need to be careful if you have IE7 in doing a Repair/Install, since
your CD will have IE6 or pre-IE6 (5.5) version you may have problems doing
the Repair install.
If you can pin point these DLLs may we can help, and better place to start
tracing this issue is the Event viewer, if it applications it will show, if
it hardware it will show in the log.
Try the System File checker (SFC) again but also try to change the Registry
to point to the CD instead of the C:\ and see if it will mange to repair the
DLLs.

Repair Installation. I must find a way to identify these problem dlls via a
log or trace and replace mannually from the I386 folder on the CD the problem
files on the drive.

Did you checked the machine is clean from viruses and malweres that can be
lurking in the background and block you from performing certain tasks?.

Yes, it will ask you about a second CD because your CD just have the XP SP1
may be, try to locate the SP2 folders in your directories and point the
pointer to it and click [OK] for the System File Checker to repair the DLL.
