Default USB related card reader problem

Hi Donald, thanks for getting back.
No, it's none of those. I guess the only way to mend this is to do a Repair
straight from the Windows XP disc.

Hi team,
My USB card reader(s) from all the USB ports has a malfunction.
When one inserts the SD card there is a pop-up window which asks what you
would like to do...open to view, play etc.
The window pops up but there is no list. I use this to transfer photo's
and
rename them as I do so.
If I ignore this pop-up window, the card readers still work and I rename
the
files later, using the right-click option. So, no great loss, just an
annoyance.
Also, for many months now a MS HID update has failed to install. "HID non
user input data filter". The card readers were however working properly
until last week.
The only recent change to my hardware set-up is that I added the USB cable
into the screen, so I can use the ports on the side of the screen.
Disconnecting the USB from the screen makes no difference to this issue.
This only affects the USB ports, if I put a DVD or CD in, I get the
correct
pop-up window asking me to open, view, play etc.
Running XP pro to the latest updates, IE8, Office 2003 pro.
