BCGA is asking for the userame/pw to access shared files on another computer (i.e. that computers username/password) - it is always a good idea to have the same username/pw Windows logon admin account on each and every machine - once authenticated Windows will remember the username/pw credentials. Note: The common Windows logon username/pw does not have to be the prefered user profile (i.e. one could be Joe, Don, or Looney on three different machines and have a Jesus Windows logon on each machine - and continue to use Joe, Don, or Looney without the need to logon Jesus). Note: For Win7 and Win8 the Public folders are automatically shared. If you need to share another folder configure it separately by right clicking on the folder/Properties/Sharing/Share - in the dialog box, select a user to share or enter Authenticated Users. I have the experience that the network account doesn't have to be an Admin account, so maybe we could rename it to Arnold instead :-) No idea what you mean. Note the name that ...winston recommended for the network enabling account. It seems to be an obscure reference to a Mad TV skit from about 2008 where they spoofed a mashup of the betrayal of Jesus and the arrival of Terminator. That's if I've Googled correctly. :-) OK - I had actually assumed that Winston meant that surely Jesus would be qualified to be Administrator. I am not 100% acculturated to this country in which I have lived my entire life :-) I had a visit a week or so ago from two Jehovah's Witnesses, who tell me that to them, Jesus is not a god, but God's appointed King of the World. (I doubt that I got that quite right, but it should be close to what they said.) It was sort of that...if Joe, Don, and Looney are users across three machines not networking as desired then Jesus may bring a bit more to the table. It's been a while since the JW's have visited my house. Ever since I put that 2ft wide dogfood bowl 1/4 full of Purina with 'KILLER' stenciled in 2" red letters at the end of the walkway near the steps leading to the door no one ever knocks. Even FedEx, UPS, and USPS leave packages by the side garage door. And I don't even have a dog! Most of the religious visitors to my door have been reasonably polite, and even seem to accept (make that tolerate!) my divergent views. I can't say the same for the product salespeople... -- Gene E. Don't you have a friend in Jesus? ;-) In the wardroom of the ship I was on, the rule was not to discuss religion, politics, sex, or work. As you can imagine, we had little to say to each other :-) You left out money. |
