Default unable to start winXp even in Safe Mode

I don't know what hard drive overlay is or Max Blast. I
read the articles on the links you gave...should I try the
repair option with the cd rom or winxp? I also looked at
your site for the 'repair installation' so that's also
what I am wondering. BTW, I am on a network with TELUS
and the secondary computer works fine, the primary one is
the blue screen one. I don't know why one is work and the
other not, it doesn't make sense to me...

Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE

ribbon cable at
both ends.
Laptop:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.
If that fails:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297185
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315403

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive

manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without

their overlay
software which is not needed anyway.

I get the error message on a blue screen:

Unmountable_boot_volume
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly
installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use
safe mode to remove or disable components, restart
computer and press F8 and selct sage mode.

***Stop: 0x000000ED (0x80e3e960, 0x0000006,
0x00000000,0x00000000)

When I try to restart into safe mode, it just comes up
again. I tried the choice 'last known configuration that
worked' (not exact words) it does the same thing. I

don't
know how to get windows xp to restart, even in safe

mode.
Any ideas?
