My new hd will be 200gig. Is plugging it in and formatting it all that is involved? What are the required steps to partition it into D & E into 100gig each? M Just about that simple. Depends on whether it's SATA, IDE which needs master/slave settings, etc. and whether it's been preformatted as many are. There should have been paperwork that came with the drive telling you how to go about the installation. If not, check their website for same. Also, you have not given good information so really, this is about the only answer you can be given; anything else would be pure guessing. You need to ensure that the jumpers on the old drive is set to Master (maybe with slave present depending on the manufacturer of the old drive) and slave on the new drive. Settings and help are located on Western Digital's site in this PDF file, second page. http://www.wdc.com/en/library/eide/2579-001037.pdf Seagate's jumper settings are he http://www.seagate.com/images/suppor...5_family_1.gif The partitioning and formatting of the drive is done within Disk Management. Maybe he uses the name Mickey Mouse perhaps because he just likes the name, or maybe his real name is as stupid as yours so prefers to use an alias. Maybe he does not profit from using the name as you suggest he might. I see other other names here like, New Orleans Novice *********meg M.I.5 3/4 T5 I suggest these are nice people just wishing to use an alias, so what's wrong with that? It's sad you choose to call people not using their real names 'CHICKEN' But then I suspect you are a very sad person with next to no friends. If you wish I'll be your friend and perhaps together we can overcome your depression. I guess you will reply with insults, but that's ok. If your picking on me then at least you might leave someone else alone. Yours Truly, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and ofcourse Daffy. "Dragomir Kollaric" wrote in message ... If a person uses a "trademark" and doesn't own it, he has no legal right to use it. Doesn't matter if this on Usenet or not. But maybe I should have written "complain to Disney.com"? Maybe they don't mind that the names of their cartoons figures are abused by people who are to chicken to use their real name or come up with something unique of their own. This is plain and simple. I can cite cases I know of. I'll just tell you this one as it involves a very well-known Rock-band from the sixties, (still around BTW) and they took a Pub-owner to court, because he named his Pub after them. Instead of seeing this as an free advertisement for them they thought someone else was cashing in on their *popularity*. No, I made my point to the OP, if you didn't understand it, you have my permission to read my post over and over until you get it. BTW where did I say that the OP would be getting some profit using the name Mikey Mouse? I used a e-mail once with the ending "invalid.org" I was told unless I *owe* the name I'm not allowed to use it, so big deal, I accepted the advice. As to my real name, I don't care if you think it's a stupid name, I've seen worse then that one, just look in a telephone-book, who knows maybe your own is among them? :-) HAND :-) Have the last word if this makes you feel better. This has been going on for decades and as far back as CB radio. No harm done and I doubt you or anyone can cite one prosecution or anyone even getting into any trouble what-so-ever. Unless you can provide something of substance to back you claim maybe you should leave people along. You will be a better person for it and you will feel much better in the long run. Do you really believe that no one can use the name "Mickey Mouse" by the way? What if someone wanted to select that name as a legal name for their child? Do you think they would not be allowed because it is already taken? Think about it. On Sunday, March 16, 2008 2:56 PM Ed Covney wrote: Dragomar - once a trade-mark gets widely accepted in society it not only denotes the trademark name but also gets widely used in a generic sense. For instance, the word "aspirin" was once a registered trademark until the public transformed it by using it in its generic sense. A valid trademark must have a source-denoting function. Here "MickeyMouse" refers to the generic use. How do you tell the difference?, The trademark uses a circle "R". See: http://www.welshkatz.com/?t=11&la=385&format=xml&p=822 Anyway, in the future, should you want to comment about a point of U.S. or international law, please get it right. OK? After all I was called a jerk, so this seems to be OK, name-calling is used in a meaningful dialog? Care to back up this unfounded claim of yours? As to "registered trademarks": The rock-band "Rolling Stones" took a small pub-owner to court, (here in Vienna 6 to 7 years ago) because they didn't like this name being used in this way. And yes the pub-owner lost and had to rename the pub. So if the Disney Cooperation is more "user-friendly" great. My first post on this topic wasn't mean-spirited, just meant as a warning as to what could happen.
