I think you didnt play DOS 10 years ago! It is starting
the search (/s command) to delete (del command) from your
profile (default starting place for cmd). This will start
from c:\ (the "beginning" of the disk):

get back to cmd.

type this exactly:

cd \
del /s opxpapp.exe

it will take a while to execute. when its done you will
again see C:\ and comfirmation of delete (hopefully).

Thank you very much for trying to help. I've got to tell
you that I'm pretty much a novice. I only got past Start
and Run. It then gives me "Type the name of the program,
folder, document, or Internet resource and Windows will
open it for you".

By the way, I'm running Windows XP Home Version (which I
think is Version 5.1). Then it has Open: and a blank
area to type in info. I typed in cmd. I get a black
background screen that says C:/Document and
Settings/Owner. Immediately to the right of that I
typed "del /s opxpapp.exe". It came back (next line
down) and states "Could not find C:/Document and
Settings/Owner/opxpapp.exe".

Then I'm stymied. What do you think?

start, run, cmd
del /s opxpapp.exe

then run regscrub

see if that does it

I'm getting...

OPXPApp.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

This comes up about every 15 minutes. It also seems to
reset my home page.

How do I get rid of it?
