Controlling A Window 7 Box From XP
Hi,
Is it possible to control a Windows 7 box (a media server) from an XP box? The XP laptop acts as the keyboard and monitor for the Windows 7 box over a wireless LAN. It would be helpful if the Windows 7 box boots in the needed state. Thanks, Gary |

Thanks, Gary You could use Remote Desktop if your flavour of Windows 7 supports it. If not then third-party products such WinVNC or TeamViewer would work too. |

Mikogo might be a better choice than TeamViewer in that a) It requires nothing to be loaded on the remote computer, and b) It is free for even commercial use. |

TeamViewer is great since it requires no installation. However, it has a couple of drawbacks: - Depending on the screen resolution of the two machines, the remote session is sometimes displayed in very small and hard to read letters. - Contrary to what you think, it is not free for commercial use. It is actually quite expensive. Here is the relevant line from their main page: "Commercial users are welcome to use these downloads for trial purposes. TeamViewer is free for all non-commercial users!" This leaves little room for interpretation. |
