Default If Google search didn't exist how could we use the web?

Google is driving me to the random web or is just my opinion? Is there any
better search page? Or is this all I can get with this ISP? Feel like I was
being redirected to the dark side.

Your question is rather confusing. You can use whatever search engine you
wish
to use. Your default search engine is determined by both your browser
settings
and your DNS settings.

When you enter a incorrect URL, many ISP DNS servers will redirect you to a
search engine of their choosing. You should always establish DNS servers
of
your choice in your router or computer settings (unless you are connected
to a
domain).

I am fond of this open source software for identifying the best DNS servers
for
a given location.

https://code.google.com/p/namebench/

With all that said, if you don't like Google, try DuckDuckGo.com

My settings are "Obtain DNS server automatically". I don't know if I should
change this setting.

How is this related to Windows 8? (Just wondering...)

I think Tanzanya Corp. has a beta search engine.

Using Google Search, I got several hits on "hydrocotton". No hits on
wiki, yahoo or bing. wiki, yahoo & bing insisted that I was not
spelling correctly & insisted that I was looking for "hydrocodizone"
or "hydrocodizine".

It took about 2 1/2 to 3 months before yahoo & bing caught up....

Try Bing. Microsoft's Bing is pretty good. Bright and clean.
