Where are these in W 8?
----- Original Message ----- From: "Zaghadka" Newsgroups: alt.comp.os.windows-8 Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2015 7:57 PM Subject: Where are these in W 8? I can't click on the Command Prompt to run as Administrator in W 8 as there is no MenuPick to "Run as administrator." ' Try these: 1) Launch explorer. Choose your C: drive in "This PC." Click on the "File" button on the ribbon and choose "Open Command Prompt," - "Open Command Prompt as Administrator." Done. 2) Or press on your keyboard WinKey+X. Type the letter "A" for "Command Prompt (_A_dmin), or just select that item in the WinKey+X menu. Done. I almost always use Win+X, "A." It's the quickest way to bring up a command prompt. Caveat: I'm running Win 8.1, I'm pretty sure these options are in Windows 8, but I'm not 100% sure, as I don't have access to that OS. Thanks... I'm keeping all this info in a folder for when the LT is replaced. I may wait until I get back home in a few weeks to replace it. It was returned to the store because the disk drive locked and couldn't be opened. I'm trying to find someone right now to make me a LT PC with W7 installed since no stores have them. I want a legal copy on the PC and that may present a problem finding. -- Zag No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' ~Dan(i) Bunten |

Try entering 'command' in the search box, r-click on the 'command prompt' choice that comes up. Holy sh*t.... that worked!!!!!!!!!! After all this time and reading online. Thanks! Glad you figured it out, Someone should smack the MS GUI designers. I just can't understand some of the changes I found. They're so pointless, but then I read more than once W8 was designed for Tablets, not computers. The idea with W8 was to use 'search' rather than menus, for reasons spelled out at the time. Easy once you get used to it. |
