Default Win 8 Have Media Center?

If it does, is it the same as on Win 7 or improved or what?

I have a laptop that came with Win 7 Pro and Win 8.1 but have not
installed the Win 8.1. I have my desktop media PC running Win 7 Pro
also and would consider upgrading to Win 8.1 if Media Center is there.

I heard that Win 10 will NOT have Media Center. Why and do they supply
something different to replace it?

What to do?

Thanks.

I think it doesn't have, only special edition.

You can add Media Centre to Win8:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../feature-packs

Looks like it will cost you $9.99
...
If you have 8.1 Pro

So the price is then

Upgrade from Win8 (Core/Home/NoName) to Win8 Pro
Media Center purchase for $10

The kit is called "Pro Pack" and is $100 total.

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/...ctID.288392300

*******

And Windows 10 is supposed to get some DVD CODECs
so we can play commercial DVD titles. And there
won't be any other Media Center capability.

Media Center is available on Windows 8.1 Pro (and only Pro, it is not
available for Windows 8.1 Core).

If Core, one has to upgrade to 8.1 Pro with the Media Center($99)
If Pro, one can to upgrade to 8.1 Pro with Media Center ($10)
