Mail, is a POS.

Windows Live Mail is marginally better, a buggy POS.

Opera sucks as does Thunderbird.

Any suggestions?

Thunderbird isn't perfect, but the fact that it _easily_ supports
encryption should make it your first choice.

It seemed better than most, but to import my contacts seemed pretty
convoluted.

Perhaps I'll give it another try.

Tks.
To import contacts in Thunderbird, open the Address Book, Tools, Import.
That does not seem that convoluted to me.

Goody for you.

Here's the problem, Brain. TB does not pull names from the contacts folder.
All I get is a red courser which will not autofill the "to" box.

Your snarky answer will be deeply appreciated.

Doesn't Windows 10 run apps (not applications aka programs but "apps",
the shortened name given to the small and less robust mobile programs)?
If so, maybe you could use the free Microsoft Outlook app.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-com/mobile/

It supports the standard e-mail protocols: POP, IMAP, SMTP. It also
supports EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) which is a 2-way sync protocol. What
is in your client is synchronized to your online account data and visa
versa. EAS is Microsoft proprietary so it is only usable with Microsoft
accounts (Hotmail, Live.com, Outlook.com). With the lack of details in
your post, you also neglected to mention who is/are your e-mail
provider/s.

You don't say why the ones you listed are POS. You also don't list YOUR
criteria for an e-mail client. You want us to suggest a different
e-mail client with no details as to what you want from an e-mail client,
uh huh. Suggestions? Yeah, learn how to use the software, pick a
better and more reliable e-mail server, or whatever is the cause of
those POS criticisms.

You claimed that Windows Live Mail is a POS (but not state why) and yet
you chose it as your NNTP client to post here.

Just use the webmail client if you can't figure out how to use a local
e-mail client or how to set it up for some unidentified e-mail provider.

For who? And your evidence is ...? If a nymshifting troll, I would
like to know what other nyms this poster used. I'd rather define a
filter on all nyms instead of catching them one by one. But if I'm
going to define a filter for a troll, I want some evidence that it is
the same troll.

If you already imported your contacts into Thunderbird's address book it
should auto-fill as you type in the person's name or email address.

HOWEVER... I've had the the import process go wrong because TBird didn't
process the csv file correctly. In that case, you would need to either
manually correct the address book or write a translator to restructure
the csv file to TBird's liking. Whichever is quickest.

Outlook express

Please explain to the OP just how the OP would get Outlook Express
installed and usable on Windows 10. It can be done but not as easily as
was your suggestion to use OE. Since it looks like everything sucks to
the OP then OE is probably not a good suggestion.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++

Thanks. You are correct. TBird puts the email address in the "nickname"
box.

I don't know how to write a translator so I'm changing things manually.

Thanks again

Same way as I did. Download the installer from the runasxp site and click
on it.

So you are declaring yourself as a nymshifter. Guess you really do want
to get ignored. Okay then.
