Default Can PAC scripts be used to configure network device properties insteadof web browsers?

Hello.

Can PAC scripts be used to automatically configure network devices
instead of web browsers' network proxies? If so, then how is it done? If
not, then what common softwares are used to do that?

Thank you in advance.
