Assuming that the processor is at least of some decent speed, yes
that's generally true. But be aware that adding more memory is
beneficial only up to a certain point, and where that point is depends
on what apps you run. 6GB of RAM is more than most people can make
effective use of. Only those who run particularly memory-hungry apps
will see a benefit with that much.

Or those who run their 64-bit Linux boxes all day and all night:

Nobody gives a **** about Linux boxes here. If you want to run that
INFERIOR Linux, go ahead. Linux is just a TOY OS written by geeks for
geeks who can't get laid.

Translation: the nymshifter never gets laid even though he runs round
with a Windows 7 DVD in his hand thinking he will.

There you go, lying like the troll you are. I am married and get laid

By the way, I don't use Linux because I need to get work done and that is
why I go with a Windows solution. Quality OS and quality software all the

You just stick with that INFERIOR Ubuntu and fart around with those 25,000

Sure you do. Little old ladies from your town come over, you scam them out
of money to "purchase" Ubuntu and then you charge for the install. If you
think that's "a lot of money" then I know exactly where you sit on the
social ladder. (and it isn't very high up).

Sorry, chum, but your stupid fantasy is totally untrue. Once, four years
ago, I charged ONE lady for the install, not for Ubuntu. Since then,
your imagination has made that lady grow into a small town. You're
pretty ****ing desperate if that's all you've got.

BTW, that one lady used to bring her computer in for virus and other
malware cleaning once a month. I talked to her yesterday and her
computer is running just fine and she's updated to each and every new
Ubuntu version all by herself. In short, she's saved hundreds of Euros
in the past four years by NOT using Windows and using Ubuntu.

What a bunch of BULL****! You claim to run a "thriving" business out of
your home, installing Ubuntu all over the place for everyone who comes to
see you. I can't believe how many people in your town know/want/use Ubuntu.
All a pack of lies. Most people haven't heard of Ubuntu, don't want to know
about Ubuntu and certainly don't want to know about any other Linux distro
out there.

BTW, that one lady used to bring her computer in for virus and other

You should call her and tell her that she hasn't saved "thousands" of euros
by NOT using Windows. What a crock of ****. She is probably out hundreds
or thousands or euros because she has to bring her PC with that INFERIOR OS
back to your place and you charge her each time.

Tell her the truth. Install Windows and the programs she needs and she
won't have to see you for a long long time. That by itself it worth it.

No kidding. The minimum for decent Windows 7 performance is about 2GB RAM.
Less and it starts to slow down noticeably.

Just wanted to post this, if anyone out there is contemplating
increasing memory on their machines and not sure it is worth it.

Installed Win 7 in Nov and for the most part liked what I
saw. I had only (!!! I remember 256KB but that's another story) 1 GB
memory installed and performance was OK.

Just upgraded to 2GB and what an improvement. Startup is 50% faster
as is shut down.

Application Windows open faster and all around performance is great.
