Does windows provide for the qty of recently opended files listed in
applications. Is there a way to increase the qty of files listed for the
recently opened files?

What do you mean "listed in application"? What application? If Word in =
Tools - Options - General Tab.

That will be a per-application setting rather than a Windows setting as
each application is responsible for its most recently used list.
