Bizarre Problem
A neighbor claims that when he taps the wireless icon on his Win10
laptop, he does not get a list of possible access points, but they do appear when he clicks that icon on his Win10 desktop! He brought the laptop here and I clicked the icon. Guess what? A bunch of access points appeared and I was able to connect. What could be wrong? If I could go to his house, I might be able to see something but I'm physically not able to make house calls. Thanks. |

Laptop could be fixed to 5GHz band only, when there are none of that type of access point at his home, but there are at yours (much less likely to be fixed to 2.4HGz as far more likely to have that type at both locations). |

In a Windows system people should learn something about "Restart" and "Shut Down". Restart is always required when an update or upgrade is applied. also, restart solves most of the problems when something isn't responding such as the keyboard or laptops tap pad or even the touch screen. People should make a habit or doing this when there is a minor problem like you have described in your post. Shutdown does,'t solve anything but it does shuts down processes that might otherwise won't allow you to do certain things like removing your USB drive (this is not same as simply pulling out from the port. DON'T do it) . Log-out is another option for this. If you can't remove your USB drive SAFELY. -- If you want to filter all of my posts then please read this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/organize-your-messages-using-filters In step 7 select "Delete" With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

You could install Teamviewer on both machines and then you could operate his laptop from yours. Of course he has to be on the internet. https://www.teamviewer.com/en/ If you haven't played with it: Both of you run it. He reads off the ID and password the program gives him, and you try to connect to that ID and then enter than password. It's really simple. And you don't need an account unless you're like me and support several people so you setup all their names in your account so you don't have to keep asking them. |
