Default windows 10 compatible with adobe reader DC

Every time I boot my computer Adobe Reader DC starts and I haven't
figure out how to keep it from starting. Then I get the following
error messages.

(1) Adobe Acrobat
Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server

(2) "Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open'TP-LINK Wireless
Configuration
Utility.lnk.disabled" because it is either not a supported file type
or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an
email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

(3) "Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open' Install LastPass IE
RunOnce.lnk disabled' because it is either not a supported file type
or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an
email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

(4) "Adobe Acrobat Reader could
notopen'PaperCutViews.lnk.disabled'because it is either not a
supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example,
it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

Once I get the error messages cleared Acrobat seems to work just fine

All help would be gratefully appreciated
thank you

"In certain situations Reader experiences compatibility issues
with anti-virus software when that software intercepts some
system calls for the Reader sandbox."

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/984433

But that doesn't answer the question of why AR is getting
those calls in the first place.

Even if those .lnk were in a startup folder, why was AR dispatched ?

You're asking me questions that I don't know how to answer. But like I
said once I clear the error messages the Reader seems be working just
fine so unless someone with a lot more knowledge and I have can figure
it out I guess I'll just live with it. There are several applications
that call for Adobe reader specifically and Adobe is far better than
anything else I've tried.

Thank you for your trouble, I appreciate it.

I don't know the answer, but being a curious person, I
would go looking for "TP-LINK Wireless Configuration Utility.lnk"
and see what folder that is in. It sounds like it's in a program
menu of some sort. And everything in the menu is being sent to
Acrobat Reader, one entry at a time.

You can use a program like Agent Ransack [search engine], as sometimes
the Windows Search doesn't index the whole disk, and it just skips
over "hidden" stuff. The Free version searches for files by name,
while you wait. Takes a minute or two, to search C: on a hard drive.

https://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/

Try looking for "Wireless" perhaps.

If it really was the AV software doing that, some AV software
allows adding an "exception folder" so the scanner will stay
out of there. That's not "the best way to run an OS", but, it's
an option.

I've seen programs and web sites that call for Adobe Reader. But
almost invariably, any other pdf reader will also work. In general the
reason they call for Adobe Reader is just that that's the name most
people are familiar with.

That's not been my experience at all. I use Sumatra now and I used to
use Foxit. I like both considerably better than Adobe Reader. What PDF
Readers have you tried, and why do think Adobe Reader is better?

Sumatra is a great reader, but it uses an Adobe-based control. Nuance PDF
Reader has a more precise viewer similar to the WPViewPDF control from
wpcubed.de in terms of Bookmark destination positioning. Their PDF editor also
uses the same control; -much nicer to work with than Acrobat (IMO).

Adobe-based readers will jump to the net page (in Continuous layout) when a
destination is past a certain point on a page. Most annoying to have to scroll
up to find a target!!
