Default Installation of pc-Cillin - Wizard disrupted before completion

I recently purchased PC-cillin 2003 anti virus software for my PC. I downloaded the software ok and have tried numerous times to install, but failed. The software people have been unable to assist despite numerous efforts. Each time I run the installation
wizard it gets close to completion then stops abrubtly with the following message "The wizard was interupted before PC-cillin 2003 could be completely installed" The XP Firewall was not running when I downloaded the software neither was it running when I
tried to install it. To the best of my knowledge notheing else is running in the background. Can anybody advise a desperate user?

I am wondering if it is a faulty download. Will they let you download
another copy to try? Can you get your $$ back?

James thanks for the reply, I've used another download of PC-Cillin 2003 and tried PC-Cillin 2002 and my computer will not allow me to install any of them!

Is there no other error message than the one you posted originally?
Check Event Viewer for any clues: Type eventvwr.msc in the Run dialog box
on the Start menu. Look under Applications as well as System for any events
that relate to PC-Cillin around the time of your installation attempt.
If you find something, double-click the event and it will open in it's own
box with more information that can be copied and pasted in your reply.

I also found this article on Trend's Support site:
"Troubleshooting installation problems for PC-cillin 2003 or 10.03"

You actually have all those trojans on your PC!?
I would download the excellent *free* antivirus AVG (www.grisoft.com) and
install it immediately and update it before running it for the first time.
Also, see this article on parasites & spywa
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

As for your Trend problems, it may be best to deal with them regarding your
issue. Or, maybe it will install once your system is "clean".

I've gone thru the solutin 16014 details and i can advise that
[a] The system requirements are met by my machine although apparantly I

need pattern 'LPT4VPN.*' Where can I obtain such copy?
[b] The following were detected by Trend Micro 'HOUSECALL'
Troj WINFAVS.A ; Troj SMALL.AA ; JS NOCLOSE.E ; Troj WINFAVS.S ;

Troj MSCASHE.A ; Troj MSCASHE.A ; Troj MSCASHE.A ; BKDR AGENT.A ;
Troj SMALL.CW ; Troj GOLD.A ; Troj MSCASHE.A [11 in total]
Should I be unduly worried about any of these??
[c] File regsvr32.exe is present in my windows system32
[d] No other pc-Cillin products have been installed although thre

versions 2000, 2002 and 2003 are on my desktop ready to be installed!!
[e] No other antivirus system are installed
[f] No third party firewalls have been installed [save the XP firewall]

I'm at aloss to know whether this is a windows xp problem or a Trend Micro

[pc-Cillin] problem
Can you suggest next step??
Many thanks for your continued assistance
Kind regards
Glyn

You're most welcome, Glyn. You may want to stick with AVG; it is highly
respected for a free AV. It has never let me down. Trend is a good company,
I hope they can compensate you in some way, or get your problem fixed.
It would also be a good idea to install a firewall (many good free ones) to
prevent further problems like trojans and install a spyware application such
as Ad-Aware (free). You can find links to both on the site I quoted
previously, http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Many thanks, your advice is most appreciated.
The free software was downloaded and installed successfully and 14

infected files have now been repaired
and at least I'm now protected from the nasties in future! I did try to

iinstall pc-Cillin again but failed as before.
I will go back to Trend as suggested and have another try.
Once again mnay many thanks for all your assistance.
Kind regards
Glyn
