Power saver setting won't work
Hey, I just ran defrag and then my power saver setting quit working except
TURN MONITOR OFF. TURN MONITOR OFF still shuts the monitor down after 10 minutes but the computer won't go into STANDBY after 20 minutes or HIBERNATE after 30 minutes. I have tried resetting and applying, restarting, shutting down, setting all options to NEVER, but nothing works. Please, help me here. |

Power saver setting won't work
I've only recently had a similar problem. I don't know the answer to his,
but I have one of my own. Yesterday I replaced my computer mouse with a better Logitech optical one. Since that point, the problem seems to be that while standby goes normally, I know that the harddrive is still on when heretofore it has always shut down as per the settings in display power settings. Also the on/off button on my Dell 8250 flashes faster than it would on normal standby when I know the hard drive is shut down. That seems to be a 2nd indicator that it's not doing what it did before. I have rebooted since I changed the mouse and reset the power management functions. If one of the experts has something constructive to say about this, I'd sure like to hear it. Clearly my computer is using too much power now overnight. I need to stop this.
