Default Forgot Password (Only Administrator on comp)

Can you boot to safe mode and reset the password through
there? I think this will only work if you haven't set a
password for the system admin. Hopefully this was set to
something different.

My cousin and I were trying to network our computer
together, it didnt work. He never used user accounts,
but created his name as "Brian" and used his password
as "Brian". Although it shouldnt have let him use his
name as password, and his password is 5 character, not
the 6 minimum, it let him, and it worked. Today he
cannot log into his comp, and under "Guest" account,
nothing works. Even the forgotten password wisard does
nothing, what can he do?
