IE11 it's a long story
I am on W7 and have the original discs without SP1 (or whatever it was
called). I also have Office 2010 installed. While installing IE from windows update, something went wrong. Let me say at this point that I don't use IE as my default browser, but I can access IE 'settings' by going via IEtab in both Firefox and Chrome. However when I attempt to use Outlook or Access I get a message saying that I need IE 4.01 or later. If I attempt to use IE11 32 or 64 versions the window (border) opens then I get an error message saying that IE has stopped working and window is trying to find the solution and if I cancel this it happens a second time. I have taken advice in both the IE and Outlook newsgroups, I have used the various fix-its supplied by MS, I have tried uninstalling recent updates. If I try to install IE11 from a download I am told that a more recent version exists. At one point I was able to re-set to default, but it didn't really help. Now I cannot get Internet Options to respond even by going directly through Control Panel. I can see a complete reinstall on the horizon, but I have so much stuff installed I am petrified at the thought. -- Jim S Tyneside UK www.jimscott.co.uk |

IE worked fine from another profile so I ended up creating one additional profile and once I confirmed it worked and put all the data in the right place....deleted to corrupt profile. First thing I'd try is to create another administrative profile and see if IE works there. As an alternative...System Restore back to a point before the problem started. -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqXl3...ature=youtu.be |

I have the a similar set up as you but have not encountered to same problem. IE 10 did however refuse to download anything a few months ago. I uninstalled IE 10 and went back to version 9. Windows update then offered both IE10 AND IE11 as updates. I updated to IE10 and checked it was working ok, rebooted then installed IE11 from windows update. Everything has been fine since. I am running windows7 64bit, IE11 64bit, but all Office 2010 parts are installed as 32bit. There are issues with Access 64bit so that is why I am using 32bit. -- mick |

Then update in stages, IE10 first, check it, then IE11. It is recommended to do it from the windows updates though. A Win7 SP1 DVD. My laptop originally had an Acer OEM OS on it. Using a downloaded Home Premium DVD, the key from the COA on the laptop, I was able to install a clean OS with the disc. Activation required a phone call (automated answering system). That's an alternative to a DIY DVD. In my case, the ISO was X17-24209.iso from digitalriver. Paul |
