Unknown user on security tab ?
Using XP pro, with all the updates applied.
When I view the security tab for any partitions or paths that have restricted access to some users, all of them, have this showing up the top: Account Unknown(S-1-5-21-1202660629-nnnnnnnnnn-nnnnnnnnn-1005) with an icon to the left, showing a person with a question mark beside it. The "nnnnnnnnnn-nnnnnnnnn" part contains a whole lot of numbers. I have searched the registry, for this mysterious user, and found no results. Searched the computer for any filenames starting with "S-1-5-21-1202660629" and it showed up all the (valid) users, all under C:\Documents and Settings\ path. But it didn't find any that ended with "1005". Some time back, there was a user on this computer, but it was no longer required, so it was removed. Is there any method to clean this up, so that the 'security tab' doesn't display this 'Unknown user' please ? James |
