Default typing on .bmp

i was wondering if i scanned a worksheet for a class as
a .bmp, is there any way that i can type on that? the
only ways i know of are by either typing directly on to
it by like photoshop or something. i could also put text
boxes in word, but are there any other ways?

No. the .bmp is an image format and cannot be opened, directly by a text
editor. There are many ways to add text as you noted with Word. You can also
use other imaging software like Paint Shop pro to add text directly to the
image.
