Default Too Many Icons

Now that I have an icon for IE8. Another couple of problems have occurred.
First, how do I get rid of the globe icon that is being used for "Internet
Properties". The second, which is more important, is that when I click on the
icon for Internet Explorer, I get more icon shortcuts. How do I get rid of
those and have that not happen again?

Set up your icons, right-click on desktoplock items on desktop.

What do you mean by locking items on the desktop?
