Default Windows updates installation hangup

I am also having a problem with windows updates
downloading, but not installing. If it makes a
difference, I've recently used the System Restore
mechanism. Please post and email; I'm also having
problems getting back to the right group site. Thanks in
advance.

Before downloading those "Critical" updates, try looking
at what you are really downloading.

Chances are good, you won't need half those updates, so
pick and choose which ones pertain to your system, and
forget the rest.

Just my experience with updates,
RGH

In trying to down load Critical and other updates for
WINDOWS XP Home Edition, the down load freezes before
completion.

The window of Window update page Dialogue appears and

the
down load starts the Upper bar fills up and then it

stops
and freezes the lower bar Installation progress remaind
empty and download stops. I have tried several times

and
have not succeeded.
Can any one help?? Thanks in advacne.
