Recording radio from Internet
Sorry if this is a really dim question ...
I often make use of the BBC's 'Listen Again' service available via their website. This enables me to listen to particular interviews from programmes during the day which I was not able to hear 'live'. I have often wondered if there is a way in which I can save these as files direct on my PC. The only way in which I can record them at present is to route the audio signal through my analogue Cassette Recorder - this seems very primitive! Any suggestions? |

There are a number of utilities that can record these Windows streams, such as WMRecorder and IIRC Total Recorder. http://www.wmrecorder.com/ http://www.highcriteria.com/productfr_trPRO.htm HTH -pk |

Google for Audacity... It's a freebee and will record streaming audio and
convert it to an mp3 file.. -- Terry Bennett wrote: Sorry if this is a really dim question ... I often make use of the BBC's 'Listen Again' service available via their website. Not a dim question at all. :-) I use StreamBox VCR to download files like these. Very easy to do. Example: I went to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml I scrolled down to "Freudian Slips." I right-clicked on the Listen link and chose Copy Shortcut. The I fired up StreamBox, clicked on the New File icon, and http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/science/...dianslips5.ram automatically appeared in the location address bar. I clicked on OK, and less than a minute later, I had downloaded the entire 4.8 MB .ra file. I'm pretty sure you can download the StreamBox VCR suite from http://www.etplanet.com/download/details.php?file=215 Then, after installing, you can choose specific apps, depending on the protocol. For Real Audio files, I usually have success with 31smf+turbo. HTH. -- Dave |

Please quote in the same order we all read English: Conversational order.

PS Its wise not to use your real email addy as it will be harvested for spam No, they got it right. http://www.interhack.net/pubs/munging-harmful/ why? The site I provided answers your question. Long story short: Effective spam measures never require legitimate (ie, not-spam/virus) emailers to do any extra work to send you an email, the level of difficulty should only be increased for spam and virus senders. This *does* require the cooperation of your email service provider, so it's best to shop around when it comes to email service (and you really get what you pay for here unless you go get a Linux box and a domain name and apply your own knowledge to get it done yourself, but at that point you're trading money for sweat equity on the cost). |
