Default Screen saver problem

I'm using Windows XP SP2. I've set my screen saver to blank after 2 minutes.
Why does it occasionally not blank the screen?

Optical mouse?
Have a monitor sleep setting?

Logitech optical mouse, no monitor sleep setting.

The screen saver does not work when you use a Wireless Optical Desktop mouse
on a Windows XP SP2-based computer:
