win messenger and msn messenger
Greetings James,
Both MSN Messenger 5 and Windows Messenger will use the same default Passport that you've set in Windows XP. As such, whatever account you've chosen to 'Sign me in automatically' will be carried over in both Messenger's. To use the Hotmail functionality in Windows Messenger, you do need the MSN Add-in, you can find it he http://messenger.microsoft.com/downl...indownload.asp The add-in won't remove any features. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "james robinson" wrote in message ... 4/15/03 i have both win and msn messenger. i have several problems. 1. they both show my username as . 2. win messenger should be . before i downloaded msn messenger i could click go to my e-mail inbox with win messenger and it would take me to my hotmail account. now it says i need an add-in. can anyone tell me how to configure win messenger so i can get to my hotmail account? what effect will the add-in have on my win messenger account? will it take me to my hotmail account? will the addin remove any of the features win messenger comes with? msn messenger takes me to outlook express when i click go to my e-mail inbox and that's ok. win messenger support just takes me around in circles before i knew it i had 9 explorer windows open an no pertinent info and eventually to the msn messenger page or knowledgebase which has no answer to my problems and of course to their support pay site. any concise/correct help would be greatly appreciated. just as a side note: windows xp sp1 has both good and bad one has to learn thru the knowledgebase (really digging deep)what features you gain and lose and already some sites are already indicating that you must have sp1 to view their sites. |
