Default dvd to mpeg

Hi,
I just converted a DVD to mpeg and I would like to edit that movie. Is it
possible with Windows Movie Maker. I actualy tried but can seem to see any
image. I can hear what is playing but no image. The movie is black. Can
someone help me out. Thanks.

Windows Movie Maker doesn't work well with MPEG2 files. If you can get it
to work at all, you must have an MPEG2 decoder on your PC already.

I'd much prefer to use an application more suited to editing like
PowerDirector or WinDVD.
