File Sharing Problems
I recently purchased a laptop with wireless connectivity. My problem is
getting access the computer in my den through the MSHOME workgroup. Both of my desktop PC's communicate fine with each other and the laptop has access to one of my desktops but the other simply says "You may not have permission to use this network resource" Why would I be able to see and use the one desktops files and not the other? The same PC I cannot access from the laptop can be accessed fine from my other desktop. The two desktops are connected to the router via wire and the laptop is connected via wireless to the same router. All of my machines are running Windows XP with the most recent drivers/patches/firmware/etc. Any ideas? |

File Sharing Problems
Did you run the XP Network Setup Wizard on all computers? If yes, did you
make sure all firewalls were disabled or otherwise turned off during the wizard? During setup, the user is asked how this computer connects to the Internet, an incorrect response can cause this issue. Usually, the correct response is the "Gateway" response as opposed to the "Hub" response. If the above does not help, click the Newsgroups button on the Outlook Express toolbar, type network_web in the search box, select it in the list, click the Go to button and try your question there. -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ "Brian Chapin" wrote in message ...
