Email program

wrote: Hi, Ken. The Calendar in WordPerfect Library - or was it WordPerfect Office - was the best one FOR ME that I ever used. But it ran in DOS and never made the transition to Windows. There were and are many other calendars, of course, but none of them ever showed the Memo and ToDo lists as clearly and conveniently as WP's Calendar. It has been gone for 20 years and I still miss it. If I ever even looked at it, I don't remember. |

OK, understood. I never wanted Paradox. I never wanted anything but WordPerfect itself. Where does WP Office 11 fit in with the X? naming convention? The first version with an X number was X3. Why? I don't know, but I have a guess. They didn't want to use 13 because some people think it's an unlucky number, so they used a half-Roman, half Arabic numeral. What will the version after X9 be called? X10? XX? 20? I don't know that either. Probably XX for the women's version and XY for the men's version. -- Gene E. Bloch (Stumbling Bloch) |

"Marv" wrote... I want to change my email program. I have been looking at various alternatives. A lot of people are recommending Outlook but I don't want to purchase MS Office to get it. Others suggest Outlook.com. If I used Outlook.com can I still use my existing email address? I seem to be getting different opinions. I would appreciate suggestions. If you want Windows Mail on Win8.1U follow these simple instructions: a.. Rename "Windows Mail" folder to "Windows Mail 8" (for not to need take ownership) a.. Create new "Windows Mail" folder (so all registry references still being correct) a.. Copy content of "Windows Mail" folder from Vista into new created "Windows Mail" folder a.. Copy "msidcrl30.dll" into "Windows Mail" folder from Vista a.. Run "Windows Mail" Just checking - I have two Windows Mail folders under W8.1.1, under Program Files and Program Files (x86). So one 32 bit version and one 64 bit version. My Vista version of Windows Mail is 32 bit. My Windows 8.1.1 is 64 bit. So I can see that if I copy the software into the 32 bit area then create a short cut to winmail.exe there may be some chance of the program running. However I assume that any links (inside or outside registry) which point to Windows Mail will point to the 64 bit version. Looking inside the Windows Mail folder the only program is 'wab.exe' which is the address book program. So I would like to know what the implications are of moving 'wab.exe' - it must be referenced from somewhere else. So I'm not at all sure why the program and associated DLLs have to be copied to the Windows Mail folder as I can't see which registry entries will point to a program and DLLs with different names in a known location. Any clarification would be useful. Thanks Dave R -- W7 64 bit --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com |
