Default Registry file syntax

Why did this registry file syntax just created only EMPTY keys?

===== start here =====
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\myfamily.exe]
@="c:\path\myfamily.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\myfriends.exe]
@="c:\path\myfriends.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\mycoworkers.exe]
@="c:\path\mycoworkersexe"

===== end here =====

All I did was export and edit the App Paths registry key.
I ended up with BLANK keys for myfamily, mfriends, and mycoworkers.
What is wrong with my registry file syntax?

I spelled things wrong when I transcribed the real file to the fake file below.

The syntax I am using is this which is creating empty keys.

===== start here =====
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\myfamily.exe]
@="c:\path\myfamily.xls"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\myfriends.exe]
@="c:\path\myfriends.docx"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\mycoworkers.exe]
@="c:\path\mycoworkers.txt"

===== end here =====

Why would that create empty keys?
The default key should be set to the path to the given file if it works.
