WIndows10 Home: No internet connection
Trying to get my Windows10 (Home) HP Probook 452 back onto the internet.
(Used to work, but in a frantic effort to stop updates butting in I did something that stopped it, but failed to mke a note of it...) Found some evidence of what might be preventing internet access. According to the diagnostic file wlan-report-2018-01-24.html' 'DHCP' is not requested, but I cannot find the option to do so. Whereas on Windows7, if I use WINDOWSkey + R and run 'ncpa.cpl' I get taken into the Network Connections folder (where it shows the Local Area Connection sub-folder) - the same command on Windows10 shows that the Network Connections older is *empty*! Windows10 does find the router's SSID and does connect (shows 'Disconnect' option), but labels the connection 'Limited' (whever that signifies) and browser says 'No internet connection'. The Ethernet cable is plugged in but the system shows no sign of a connection. (The continued absence of an internet connection prevents finding/installing of a driver for whichever wired mouse I try....) Cordialement, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network Connections Do any of your connections have a status of Disabled? If so, right click on that connection and select Enabled. If that's not it, post some screenshots somewhere and provide links here in the newsgroup, No one knows what you did, so it's hard to tell you how to undo it.

You get this option when you RIGHT-CLICK on the Ethernet Network Icon. If you have a WIFI then the process is the same except you choose Wifi in the first picture. There is a short-cut method to enable/disable in Wifi but this will solve the problem if this is indeed the problem in your case. If nothing works then you can always pay somebody like me to fix it for you. It costs only £100 GBP to resolve this. If the other suggestions , inc Good Guy's (which is usually just a putdown) don't work, try using a System Restore Point before it happened, if you have one.
