Default Does Metro have a file manager?

Hi All,

Okay, there is a file manager in Desktop, but is
there one in Metro? If so, where is it and what is
it called?

Many thanks,
-T

File management continues to be handled by Windows Explorer in the desktop mode though some apps do provide the ability to save
viewed or accessed content within the app.

Hi, Todd.

In (the GUI formerly known as) Metro, you should be able to find a Tile for
"Computer". Click that to see good ol' (Window) Explorer, aka File
Explorer. If you don't see the Computer tile, press the Windows key
("Start") and type in "explorer"; by the time you get to "expl" you should
see two choices: Internet Explorer and File Explorer.

And, of course, you can Pin to Start.

Hi Winston and RC,
Thank you

You're welcome.

Fyi....if you access All Apps the File Explorer modern UI icon/tile can be found under the Windows System group. File Explorer can
be pinned to the Start Screen or Task Bar or right clicked to access it's shortcut file location for copying elsewhere (e.g.
Desktop, Quick Launch toolbar. etc.)

All Apps can be accessed by:
1. Rt click on blank area of task on the Modern UI (fka Metro)
or
2. Winkey + Q (opens All Apps and a Search panel) - works in Desktop mode or Modern UI mode
- the Search Panel will disappear by clicking on any blank space or moving the scroll bar

These might be helpful

If you like the old split screen file managers (most people did) you can
launch two copies of Explorer together using WDE

http://wde.codeplex.com/

It adds a few very useful features too.
