Default MSXML 6 not reinstalling

i recently did a full system recovery of my 4 mont old VAIO. after
installing office, I attempted to install my Zune back onto my system. it
would not install without the MSXML 6. So I explored the CD, and tried to
install it manually, only to have MSXML 6 get all the way through the
installation, and then rollback as if it never installed. Im kind of at a
loss here. Im running XP SP2. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Brian,

The MSXML install has been problematic over the last 3 years. I've had MSXML
4 destroy _security_ settings in the registry HKCR. I suspect this may be
your problem too. But I'm guessing.
My fix was to load a previous image (ghost).

Hmmm I'm not helping much - maybe someone else can.

I agree with CW that it's a security problem. I would suspect there are not
the right Permissions set in the registry to allow the MSXML install. Is this
Home Ed.? If so, I would boot to Safe Mode and the default "Administrator"
account, to install the MSXML.
