"Create a Restore Point" - nada
Before backing up my computer, I like to create a new restore point. But
this morning, when typing into the search box "Create a restore point" or when using the Control Panel/System/System Protection routes, clicking the final link to get to System Resto nothing happens. I have tried both warm and cold reboot, and run sfr /scannow, which found corrupt files "and repaired them all". Any ideas? Thanks! Tony |

Do you have space? Crap Cleaner has a great tool to view all the restore points, it would show you if you had done anything of course. I'm not sure what happens if you don't have enough space and you only have one restore point would it delete that one and make the new one or if that is why you're failing, you only have one and it eats all the space up. That or did something turn of system protection on all drives? Sorry this is little help. |

Thanks for your input, though. |

OR Just type restore in the Search box when you click on the Start button. If that doesn't do it, at least you didn't waste a lot of time trying. -- Buffalo |

Thanks, Buffalo, but I realize I might not have made myself exactly clear. I *can* get into System Resore proper, if I needed to restore. What I cannot get into is the page that lets you *create* a restore point. Usually, I get there by typing "restore point" in the search box, and clicking the link that says "Create a Restore Point"- but that link is dead. I can also do it by going to Control Panel/System/System Protection but that link is dead, also. That's my problem, as precisely as I can put it. |

Thanks for your input, though. Here is a suggestion that takes time to try but it might get you out of your predicament. First backup you existing restore point(s) to another location, possibly even to another drive. Below is one way to accomplish this. http://www.ghacks.net/2010/05/09/how...estore-points/ After using the above info to backup things turn OFF all the restore points where you get to pick what drives are being monitored. Reboot the PC With luck any existing restore points are now gone. Last turn back on the restore points for the drive(s) you want backed up and see if it now works. |

I tried several freeware programs to create Restore Points, but Restore Point Creator seems to be the best one IMO, too. Much obliged. Tony |
