DST doesn't update
I've got a Windows XP laptop here that doesn't update the DST. Yes, the box
is checked for that and it doesn't work. I've also run the tzedit program to try to fix this, but to no avail. I can't find the DST latest update for Windows XP (32 bit) on the net, since it's been removed from the MS servers. What is interesting is that after I manually update the time to the correct value, and then use the "automatically sync with Internet time server", it sets it back an hour to the wrong time. And that doesn't matter if I've got the DST box checked or not checked. Any suggestions? |

Interesting article: https://www.raymond.cc/blog/auto-syn...ndows-startup/ I use Neutron. Not via scheduler, I put a link in my startup folder. Note it uses port 37, not NTP. I used to use that for Win2K, after it stopped getting updates. And a couple times, I had to change the definition of DST with TZEDIT. I don't know at what point, or whether, TZEDIT works on stuff later than WinXP. One reason for using TZEDIT, is there is a "gob" of stuff it puts in the Registry. You'd think this would be simple, but it's more than just a couple dates in an obscure format. (Anything involving "time" on computers, seems to bring out the worst in rocket scientists.) ******* https://web.archive.org/web/20080514.../timezone.html (Picture of tool for manual change...) https://web.archive.org/web/20070610..._time_zone.jpg And here's a bonus article to slog through. It seems they're still updating this with new URLs. I'm surprised this KB is still around... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...dows-operating Paul |

I used two free utility programs (found on the net), but you only need tzedit. "TzAdjust" (displays the existing date settings for changeover on the computer, and despite its name, does not allow you to change the dates) (so it's not needed) tzedit (displays, and can reset, the date changeover dates to your choice) |
