Default delay in application starting

Hi

Quite often when I click on an icon on my quick start bar (near the start
button) my notebook will do nothing. It is as though the mouse click has
no effect. Then all of a sudden, often one minute later, the applications
will all open at once.

I have enought RAM to do what I want (1 gig) and i think i have enough hard
drive space.

Is there anything that i can do do diagnose this problem?

Cheers

Doug

Have you tried DeFragging... just in case?

Also, if you open the same program(s) using a desktop shortcut, Start menu
shortcut, or command line, does it have the same effect, or does it start
immediately?

Finally, does this delay happen all the time, or just once in a while?

Thanks,
Eric

Are you running any McAfee software? If so uninmstall and try. Failing that
clean boot in case there its software causing it. Clean boot using msconfig
and try the shortcut. Is the problem when running any program or just a
particular program? A few more deatails would help.
