If you have some time to waste rather than watch yet another
mind-numbing stupid commercial on television, you can see OldDuke's
(that's one word "OldDuke", not the 2 words shown by gardenerstouch)
mind-numbing posts at:

http://groups.google.com/group/micro...6d3e7b7d2 7f1

Apparently he has self-nominated himself as the "what is on-topic here"
netcop for this newsgroup. Not because he occasionally notes that a
topic doesn't belong in this group but because that is all he ever says
in his few posts totalling all of 27 starting all of 3 weeks ago (oh
yeah, he's the expert, for sure, uh huh).

OldDuke is too stupid and/or too lazy to even notice there is no non-OS
specific microsoft.public.hardware newsgroup (carried by Microsoft's
own
NNTP server). I'm not sure troll quite suffices to describe OldDuke's
posts. Most trolls have a bit more intelligence. Boring is more
accurate of his posts. He's a broken record: click, "off-topic for
this
newsgroup", click, "off-topic this newsgroup", click, "off-topic",
click, "off-topic", ad nauseum.

Like watching commercial television/cable programming, he's just like
the advertisement noise that you have to deal with. However, it is
easy
to ignore his off-topic "ads". Even you can killfile in WLM.

Sorry, but you have no idea about me. I have YEARS (decades) of
experience in computers - building them, software support, networking,
LAN support, etc. What I don't have is patience for IDIOTS,
especially top posting ones.

So you have no patience for yourself then. Figures.

You [the morphing troll] have no authority to decide what is
acceptable
in this newsgroup and what isn't. You don't own it. You don't even
contribute to it.

Right, all he's got is an assumption based on the name of the
group....and apparently a lot of free time to troll groups. Many MS
groups, probably all of them especially Office groups, cover topics
outside of the main focus. This has been true for almost ten years.
So
IMO the troll is out of line and should stop posting his nonsense. If
MVPs start making such claims, then we pay attention. In the
meantime,
all he's doing is scaring away folks who legitimately need the help.

He doesn't seem to have that much time on his hands. He only posts at
around a specific time of the day. I have previously suggested that
his
mummy only allows him to play with his PC once he has finished his
homework.

OK, I'll buy that. The other indicator is that he'll soon disappear as
summer break begins and his access to usenet ends for a while.

Nope, neither of you has any clue. It just happens to be the time I
hit the computer every night, based on my job's hours and when I eat
dinner. Nice try though. Care to be wrong AGAIN? Then just post
something - it's more than likely going to be WRONG.

... and once again you are proving my point better than I ever could. Has
your seething rage died down yet?

I don't have a seething rage...just pity for you idiots who can't read
a simple group title and admit YOU are wrong, not I.

It says 'hardware'. A good place therefore to post hardware questions. It
is you that are wrong by popular vote.

Have you ever responded with a suggestion other than "ask elsewhere" ?

It would seem that with your years(decades) of experience you could
certainly do so.

Sure. But why? I have learned that one can only truly learn by doing
their OWN research, not by being spoon fed answers. If you are told
you are not looking in the right place, then look elsewhere. Learn to
RESEARCH by YOURSELF.

My question really was about whether you have ever answered an on-topic
question with a response that would help the poster.

And I see you've switched names again. Too many people kill-filing you?

Bill
