Default Irritating MSN Messenger, messeage

I was using Windows messenger...

....but now after pressure from friends, I've just
downloaded MSN messenger 6.0, and although it seems to be
a bit slower than Windows messenger, it works more or
less ok, except for one thing...

....now, every time MSN messenger try's to sign itself in,
when I connect to the internet, I get this annoying
message saying;
"you have been signed out of the .net messenger service
because you are signed in at another location"

How can I get rid of this irritating message?

I could uninstall the Windows messenger to stop this
possible conflict with the MSN version, but I've only
just downloaded the MSN version, and I want to test it
out a bit more first. I dont know yet whether I want to
keep it.

To try and rid myself of this problem, I've stopped
Windows Messenger from Starting (from within its
software,) when I boot up, so it's not in the system
tray, and also stopped it from being active, (sending
alerts etc). I've also removed all the other ticks from
all the box's in that specific area as well.

But the "you have been signed out..." message is still
present! (sigh)

Is this a common problem?, the result of having two
messenger's.
Both of them only allow you to be signed in once, not
twice.

If any one could help it would be great.

Greetings Ben,

Do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton added a new "instant messaging scanning"
feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict with Messenger and cause this behavior.
To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the System
Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then
Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.
