Default Create restore point at bootup

In XP I had a vbs file (that I downloaded from somewhere) that
would create a System Restore Point automatically at bootup (was
part of the Startup list in msconfig).

Does anyone know where I can download a similar file or app for
Windows 7? I'm talking about creating the restore point
automatically at bootup as opposed to doing it manually.

TIA,
George

When I Googled "automatically create restore point", I got a lot of
hits that claim to be able to do what you want. I assume you've tried
a handful of those sites and they didn't work?

I searched earlier and got a lot of hits, but then I decided not to post
a reply :-)

My search string was vaguely similar to yours: "restore point script".

You guys all missed the point. I know that googling will produce
a number of hits on creating MANUAL system restore points. None
of those hits relate to creating an AUTOMATIC restore point at
BOOTUP of WINDOWS 7, which is what I had in XP and am trying to do
in Win7. The VB script that works for XP will not work in Win7.

If anyone can point me to such a VBS for Win7, I'll appreciate it.

Take a look at this program for automatically creating a registry backup at
bootup.

Take any one of those scripts you found to make a manual restore point and
create a "scheduled task" to perform it. The "time" to do it...at startup.

My system, Windows 7 Ultimate, came by default with a scheduled task to
create a restore point at 2 time. 12:00am and system startup.

Gary, that's what I was looking for! Used InstantFundas' method
1, and it works perfectly. (Had to change the computer date 1 day
ahead to test it since I had already booted up before placing the
VBS file in the Startup folder).

Thanks a million, really appreciate it.

Thank you Jan, that's another useful app to have in your startup

Nope, none of us missed the point. Many of the Google hits claimed to
do exactly as you requested, i.e., create a restore point
AUTOMATICALLY at system startup. I'm sorry that you didn't see that,
but I notice that you've settled on a solution so congrats.

Had you actually followed the link I posted that used the search given by
Gene, you would have found the script you wanted in the very first link.
Next time, do some research before looking like a fool.

I use method 3 with SCRP. It's set to run at 9:00AM every other day, so it's
not trying to do too much at login. I also use ERUNT to back up the
registry, and have that in the startup folder. Seems to work well- I've used
the SCRP restore points with no problem. KOW, I haven't needed to use
ERUNT's backups yet.
