Default I have the $, but how do I get the cent sign?

I need another way to get the cent sign in my documents other than copying
it and pasting it from the Internet to a Word document. Any ideas?

Discover the Character Map in Windows. This little used utility has been
around forever.

There is a link in Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools. Select the
Font in the top menu, scroll through the characters until you find the one
you want to use and select it. Yu can then click the Select/Copy buttons and
paste the character into any document or look at the bottom of the dialog
box and you'll see the keyboard shortcut and name for this character. You
can even drag and drop the characters from the CM directly onto the open
document. ¢ © ® Ç Ø ¥ ¾ O

Hold ALT and type 0162 using the numberpad (Not the numbers across the
top of the keyboard)

I swear I cannot find the cent sign in the character map of Word. I would
not have posted otherwise. The Alt key method is going to be faster, but out
of curiosity, exactly what row in the character map are you seeing the cent
sign?

Oh I see, you did not mean the Insert Symbol from Word. Got the character
map now.

Hey, this character map is the same thing that I see in Word 2000. I swear
there is no cent sign in that character map. I just looked again. But the

In Character Map, using the Ariel font, row 5 number 4 from the right side.
There are other variations of this character using different fonts. ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢

Using XP Pro with SP1, I did find it under the selection called Arial
Narrow. I wonder why it would be under Arial Narrow and not under all the
different fonts? Anyway, the problem is solved.

You have two choices,
Use the lower case letter c
or
Hold down the Alt key and hit 155 on the number pad.
Release the Alt key.
