Hello,
I have a Windows Xp Pro machine under a Server 2003 std Domain. The problem
appears when a try to print large documents (7-8 pages) on a local printer,
windows seems to freeze and in Task Manager the cpu usage is up to 99%.
Sometimes the print process begins after 2-3 hours and sometimes it never
begins. When i print small documents (1-2 pages) there is no problem.
Is there any settings that can be applied on spooler to resolve the problem
?

Thanks.

You may want to add more memory to your printer (If it has a place to add
memory). Look in your printer's manual for this information or post you
printer make and model in your reply and I'll let you know.

You may also want to check your printer settings, look for the option
refering to send documents directly to the printer and check it.

You may also want to try the printers website for new drivers, this usually
solves the majority of printing errors.

Let us know.

It gets hung trying to prepare a spool file which it sends to the driver.
You probably need more space on the disk which holds this temporary file.
The cpu usage goes through the roof because the spooler is desparately
trying to find enough space. Small documents results in a smaller spool
file.
What you are seeing is best explained as extreme difficulty in writing the
spool file.
I have also seen a similar problem in trying to print a 100 page document on
an HP printer. The same file prints fine on an Epson Photo 1280. I suppose
the particular device makes a difference as well.
