Default Audio conflict

OP WINXP Home Edition ASUS P4P800S MB. on board audio. When signed into
windows live messenger on occassion when using audio it kills all audio on
the computer, can't play any audio files of any kind. Exit windows live
messenger & open again all is OK. I have loaded the latest audio drivers &
reinstalled windows live messenger. I have all the latest updates for WInXP

Default Audio conflict

Hi there,

This looks like a really weird problem.. The usual problem with your board,
is that the sound driver usually never gets installed..

The kind of problem that you are facing usually happens when there is no
sound mixer installed.

Try to check under Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel, whether your
soundcard has been selected as the default device for sound and voice
hardware tabs.

As far as I can tell after examing the many things that seem to effect this
problem is that it happens only after the computer is put on standby. If the
compute is shut down each time the problem never happens
