A much more effective solution to this set of problems would be some
form of reproductive sterilization before those people could be given
any form of support. If they don't want to have their reproductive
system turned off they should flee back to wherever they came from.

The notion that breeding with
a high IQ person will result in high IQ children is, um, somewhat dubious

Naahhhhh... Not so much! Part of it is certainly genetics, but a big part of
it is evironmental. Nuturing, health, social interaction, field of
experiences, formal education, and most developmental elements tend to filter
down through the generations... Like any statistical curve, there are
exceptions at either end... to wit, well-bred kids can go bad and ill-bred
kids can beat the mold; but it's rare.

Ah, yes. Breed more Gordons, right?

Little retarded Gordons... to pay for all those welfare people. (:

Part of the problem is rarity of potential mates. For an IQ of 133 or
higher, 98.3551363216% of the US population does not qualify.

Besides which, IQ is a useless number. It follows normal distribution,
like height or foot size, which means that many different factors are
involved, both environmental and genetic. The notion that breeding with
a high IQ person will result in high IQ children is, um, somewhat dubious.

But you are dealing with a much smaller genome.

If you do this with humans, you've opened up yourself to
charges/accusations of "playing God".

I don't have problems with doing this if it's to eradicate genetic based
diseases, but if you do it to get that blue-eyed blonde child, that's
crossed the line, IMO.

Actually, in the "western" world, it's less than that. I think
somewhere around 1.5 children per couple IIRC. Which is why western
countries need immigration, in order to have enough members of the
society to keep infrastructure and programs functional.

And, as far as I know, all of our descendants got an education
then a good job. None are freeloading bums. Gordon

That reads just like a line spoken by Sheldon Cooper in the pilot
episode of "The Big Bang Theory"... er, a paraphrasing actually. Perhaps
I'm recalling the line from one of the other 189 episodes I've watched so
far. It really does seem *so* Sheldonesque.

I used to manage teams of engineers. There was a wide variation in smarts
and capabilities. I wished for a team of ALL top-shelf engineers...
until I got one. Was like herding cats. And I got all scratched up
trying. Be careful what you wish for.

That's too late. Reversible sterilization at birth.
You want kids, put up a bond that can pay for their upkeep and
education. If you nip it in the bud, the degradation of
society is a self limiting process.

If you're lazy or stupid or evil and can't put up the bond, you
don't procreate. You have a kid after securing your future and
providing for the kid's future.

What we have now is "I'm so drunk that I forgot the condom."

You don't have to tinker with genes at all. You just have to give
incentives to become contributing members of society. People will
always follow the path of least resistance. Make that path one that
raises kids with good role models and adequate resources.

You get higher quality people if they're planned and cared for.

Notice that I have made no statements about exactly what kids should
be taught, just that it be taught in a stable family where they
are wanted and with adequate financial resources.

I spent a summer internship at a city planning department in the deep south.
Welfare mothers were having babies as fast as they could to up the
welfare payments. If dad lived at home, welfare was reduced.
That's a recipe for failed upbringing.
I think they finally passed legislation to limit
welfare to 10 or so kids.

If they don't want to have their reproductive
system turned off they should flee back to wherever they came from.

A minor point, but I'll mention it: a computer virus is simply a
piece of self-replicating code. It doesn't have to do anything bad to
be a virus.

That means that win 10 is a virus because it copies itself to one's
machine (self replicating) and puts in icon in your systray telling you
to upgrade.
