If so, run msconfig and uncheck the Safe Boot. Normally (if you got into Safe Mode by the usual method of hitting F8) when you reboot you should just go into Regular Mode. So you will need to post back with a better description of what you did, are doing, and what happens - including the exact text of any error messages. It would also be useful to know why you needed to go into Safe Mode in the first place. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |

Normal Mode
The reason I went into Safe Mode (by hitting F8) is that I had a trojan horse
virus and Norton could not find it. I was advise to go into Safe Mode and rerun Norton. I did this Norton picked it up and it is now Quarentined. I've rebooted and I can't get back into normal mode,PC keeps coming back into safe mode. I've rebooted aprox half a douzon time now and the same keeps reoccuring . I don't get any message the PC just reboots in Safe Mode. "Malke" wrote: Ron Millette wrote: I have went to Safe Mode to remove a trojan Horse and now I can't get back to Normal Mode Any Ideas? Look in Event Viewer to see if there are clues as to what is failing: StartRuneventvwr.msc [enter] Your computer is probably still not clean and system files may have been damaged. I would first make sure the machine is really clean by running either Sysclean or Multi_AV plus Ewido. Here are instructions: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware Once you know the machine is truly clean, if you still can't get into Normal Mode you can try running the System File Checker: StartRunsfc /scannow [enter] If that doesn't help - and it is not uncommon for viruses and malware to damage system files - you can try a Repair Install: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
