Default Windows Messenger 5.1 problem

Hi,

I now have no use for the MSN Add-in function of WM 4.7, so I decided to
upgrade to the newest version (5.1). It appeared to install successfully, but
when I opened the application, it gives me this error:

"C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration
is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I tried reinstalling, repairing, rebooting but that didn't solve the
problem. Are there any other ways that can fix this problem? Thanks in
advance. B)

nada.

Default Windows Messenger 5.1 problem

Hi Stephen,

I have the same issue. I am using Windows XP SP2. I am unable to startup
the Windows Messenger 5.1, I get the same error. The Windows Messenger 5.1
does not show up on Add/Remove program list. When I try to install the only
option I get is to repair...the installation completes...but when I try to
startup I get the same error "This application has failed to start because
the application configuration
is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Someone please provide us some direction! Thank You
