Default XP Logon takes long after screen saver password enabled

Running XP Pro w/SP1 and all Security patches downloaded.
When screen saver kicks in after timer pops, no problem
getting back into pc as do not have 'password requried'
enabled and windows screen pops up right away.

Enabled, 'password requried' on screen saver (control
panel/display/...). The screen saver kicks in ok after
timer pops. When wanting to log back in, prompted for
password as expected. Enter password and wait around 10
secs. for windows screen to pop up with whatever before
screen saver kicked in.

I'm using another laptop with Win2k that pops up the
windows screen almost instantly after entering the screen
saver password. I am comparing to this thinking that
maybe there is a problem.

Has anyone experienced this? Is the time delay normal
after entering screen saver password? Don't know if one
of the MS pathces affected a module that controls this
function.

Cannot compare before/after patches as screen saver
password requriement was not enabled until now.

Thank you to anyone who may be able to help.

Perhaps the power options are set differently on the XP and 2K machines. If
the XP machine has gone to standby when you want to dismiss the screen
saver, it will take a few seconds to 'wake up.'

Thank you. I will review power mgmt settings. I was
concerned something was not correct with all the MS
updates.
